I was having a conversation the other day that reminded me of the movie “The Matrix”, where Morpheus presents the blue and red pills. Neo must make a choice between knowing the truth, and the oblivion & slavery of The Matrix.
The problem is, that with the knowledge of the TRUTH, comes the responsibility to act. This is also the question we must each answer for ourselves.
I have a friend who loves to ask the question…
“If what I’m saying were true…..wouldn’t you want to know….?”
The oblivion of naïveté and anonymity is appealing in one sense because it requires nothing from us. The problem with this existence however, is that it imprisons people into a life of mediocrity and powerlessness.
Many of the instructions in the Bible get glossed over or neglected, because we simply do not know how to DO them……then we wonder WHY things are not working for us.
It’s much easier to blame our problems on the “sovereignty of God” instead of digging into The Word to find the truth.
James 1:22 says “But become doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
So what does it mean to be a DO-er, so that you are not deceiving yourself?
James 2:20 says “But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?”
James 3:17 says “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
“Are you willing to yield….?” Are you teachable…? Are you willing to accept the truth…?
With a complete knowledge and understanding of the Word and the teachings of Jesus, we can and will walk in complete power over our circumstances.
Did Jesus mean it when He said in Matthew 10:7-8, “And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand” “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.”?
Even if we’re NOT seeing these things in our lives, we should still be ENCOURAGED that all of this is possible.
– I should be encouraged that I’m the one who needs to change….not God.
James 2:26 says, “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
ALL believers are called to a personal ministry of Jesus to others”…. but HOW does this happen?
Read John 14:10-14 for yourself, and tune in next time…
